Packers and Movers from Pune to Bangalore

Down NH48, planned around the monsoon

Quick answer

Pune to Bangalore is about 840 km by road, almost all of it on NH48, and a household move takes 3–5 days door to door. There's roughly eleven hours of driving, normally split with an overnight halt, plus loading and unloading at both societies. Typical market rates for a 2BHK are ₹19,500–₹30,000, and Skynet's own written quote follows a free survey.

Down NH48 from Pune to Bangalore

The road distance is about 840 km, and the fastest road route stays on NH48 for about 780 km of it. It's one highway nearly the whole way and only two states, Maharashtra and Karnataka, which makes this one of the simpler long moves to plan.

Soon after Pune the highway climbs through a short ghat section, then runs south through sugarcane country to Kolhapur, about 210 km out. Past the state border it reaches Dharwad at around 420 km and the rocky, windy country near Chitradurga at about 630 km, before the last stretch into Bangalore. Most of it is a wide divided highway. Trucks slow down on the ghat, through town traffic and in heavy rain, and the Kolhapur side is where monsoon trouble tends to show up.

Why eleven hours of driving takes three to five days

Eleven hours is the pure driving time on a clear road. A loaded truck is slower, one driver shouldn't do all of it in a single stretch, and trucks normally stop overnight on the way. Then there's the work at each end.

  • Packing and loading in Pune, usually a day, timed to your society's permitted hours.
  • About two days on the road, with a night halt.
  • Arrival in Bangalore, where heavy trucks face time limits on city roads and your association sets the move-in slot.
  • Unloading, normally in the morning.

That's how a dedicated truck lands at 3–5 days. A shared truck can take longer, and so can any truck in a bad monsoon week. Book your own travel for a day or two after dispatch rather than the same day, so you're there to receive it.

Shared truck

Good value for a 1BHK or a few pieces over this distance, since diesel and tolls are split. Expect extra days, because the truck fills up in Pune and may drop goods along NH48 first.

Dedicated truck

Worth it for a 2BHK or more, or a joining date. It leaves once you're loaded, halts overnight and unloads only at your Bangalore address, with no other stops on the way.

Is a shared part load worth it at this distance?

For smaller homes, often yes. On a run of about 840 km, diesel, tolls and the driver's days make up a large part of the cost, and a part load splits those between customers. For a 1BHK, a bachelor flat or a few pieces, the saving is real. The trade-off is time. A shared truck may wait in Pune until it's full, and it can drop other goods near Kolhapur or Dharwad before it reaches you, so allow extra days.

For a full 2BHK or 3BHK, or a fixed joining date in Bangalore, a dedicated truck is simpler. It leaves when you're loaded, doesn't unload anywhere else and arrives on a predictable day. Two-wheelers ride on our Bike Stand either way, held by both tyres.

Papers, tolls and a Maharashtra car in Karnataka

FASTag handles the tolls, and a long stretch of NH48 means several plazas. Household goods for personal use don't normally need a GST e-way bill, but keep the packing list and your ID with you. The car needs more thought, because Karnataka transport officials do check out-of-state cars that are in regular use in Bangalore.

  • Hand over RC, insurance and PUC copies when the car goes onto the carrier.
  • If you're settling in Bangalore for good, get an NOC from the Pune RTO before you leave.
  • Re-register in Karnataka and pay the state's road tax, or apply for a BH series number if your employer qualifies.
  • Update the address on your car insurance after the move, so a claim isn't held up.

The car transport page explains how carrier loading works.

Monsoon on the Maharashtra stretch

From June to September the stretch from Pune down past Kolhapur gets heavy rain. The ghat south of Pune turns slow and misty, and in the worst years river flooding around Kolhapur has shut NH48 for days at a time. When that happens trucks simply wait, so a monsoon move needs slack in the delivery date. Every carton, mattress and sofa gets waterproof wrapping, and we check flood warnings before the truck leaves Pune.

Further south in Karnataka the rain usually eases, though Bangalore has a wet season of its own. October to February is the most comfortable window. April and May are hot on the plains around Dharwad and Chitradurga, so keep candles, medicines and cosmetics out of the truck. In Pune itself, Ganeshotsav brings road closures and processions in August or September, which can slow loading day in the central areas.

Pune societies, Bangalore associations

In Pune, the west side has the edge. NH48 runs along the city's western bypass, so a truck loading in Wakad, Baner, Balewadi or Hinjewadi gets onto the highway almost straight away. Kharadi, Wagholi, Viman Nagar and Hadapsar mean a slower run across or around the city first. Society permission letters and lift bookings work the same as for any Pune move, and our Pune page lists what's usually asked for.

NH48 comes into Bangalore from the north-west, past Peenya and Yeshwanthpur, so Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram and Hebbal are near that end. Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, Bellandur and Electronic City, where plenty of Pune IT families end up, are on the far side, and a big truck crossing the city has to fit around heavy-vehicle limits. Many people also take a furnished flat first while they look around, so tell us early if part of the load should go into storage. The Bangalore page covers association rules.

Pune to Bangalore move: frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.

How much do packers and movers charge from Pune to Bangalore?

Typical market rates run around ₹14,000–₹20,000 for a 1BHK, ₹19,500–₹30,000 for a 2BHK and ₹26,000–₹42,000 for a 3BHK, excluding GST. They're estimates, not a fixed tariff. On a route this long, choosing a shared or dedicated truck makes a big difference, along with volume and packing. Skynet gives you a written quote after a free survey at your Pune home.

How many days does shifting from Pune to Bangalore take?

Allow 3–5 days door to door. Driving is about eleven hours, normally split with an overnight halt, and the rest goes on loading within your Pune society's hours and fitting into Bangalore's truck timings and move-in slots. A heavy monsoon week or a shared truck can stretch it. Your move manager confirms the dispatch date before loading.

Is it safe to move from Pune to Bangalore during the monsoon?

Yes, with some slack in the plan. Heavy rain between June and September slows the ghat south of Pune, and in bad years flooding around Kolhapur has closed NH48 for days. Everything is wrapped waterproof, and we check flood warnings before dispatch. Just don't book a tight joining date straight after a monsoon move.

Do I need to re-register my Pune car in Bangalore?

If you're moving for good, yes. Get an NOC from the Pune RTO before you leave, then re-register in Karnataka and pay its road tax, or apply for a BH series number if your employer has offices in four or more states. Karnataka does check out-of-state cars in regular use, so don't leave it for months.

Can my things go into storage while I look for a flat in Bangalore?

Yes. Plenty of people take a short stay or a furnished flat first and choose a home once they've tried the commute. Your goods can wait in our warehouse and be delivered when you're ready. Tell us before loading in Pune, so the storage and the later delivery are both in the written quote.
