Why ropes in a corner of the truck don't work

A two-wheeler is light and top-heavy. Tie it with loose ropes in the corner of a truck and, over a long stretch of highway and rough road, it can tip over, rub against other goods or pick up scratches. Scooters are no different, and their plastic body panels scuff easily. Your bike was bought with hard-earned money, and it deserves better than that.

That's why Skynet Packers and Movers (SPM Group) developed the Bike Stand. The stands are shock resistant. They're attached to both tyres and fixed to the truck, which holds the bike steady and stops the road from shaking it about. Your motorcycle or scooter has a much safer trip as a result.

How does bike transport work?

1. Quote. Send us the bike model, pickup city and destination, and you'll get a written quote upfront.
2. Condition check. We note any existing scratches or dents with you before loading.
3. Wrapping. Parts that scratch easily, like the tank and mirrors, get wrapped.
4. Loading. The bike goes into the truck and both tyres are secured in the Bike Stand.
5. Delivery. We unload it at the destination and hand it over after another condition check.

Before pickup and at delivery

Run the tank down so there's only a little petrol left. Take off detachable accessories such as saddle bags and phone mounts, don't leave helmets with the bike, and photograph it from all sides. Write down the odometer reading as well. Keep copies of the RC, insurance policy and PUC certificate ready with your ID proof, plus a transfer or joining letter if it applies. Hand over a key when we pick it up.

When the bike arrives, check it before you sign. Compare it with your photos, look at the mirrors, indicators and body panels, and make sure anything you handed over with the bike has come back to you. If something looks wrong, mention it before the team leaves instead of calling about it later.

Sending the bike with the rest of your home

The bike can go on its own or as part of a bigger household shift or intercity move, with one move manager handling the lot. Transit insurance is available as an option for protection against accidents and natural disasters.

If the bike is staying in the new state, you can generally ride it on its original registration for up to 12 months. Beyond that you'll need to re-register it with the local RTO, which usually means getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the RTO where the bike was first registered.
