Why isn't a normal carton enough?

Crockery, glassware and delicate decor get damaged in a move more often than anything else. A regular carton can be crushed under heavier boxes, and every pothole on the way goes straight through the cardboard to whatever is inside. Wrapping helps, but wrapping alone can't absorb knock after knock over a long drive.

A family dinner set, or a glass piece someone gave you years ago, isn't easy to replace. That's the reason Skynet Packers and Movers (SPM Group) came up with the Perfect Box, and it's now one of the things that sets our packing apart.

What the box actually does

The box has a shock-absorbent structure. When it's lifted, stacked, carried or bounced around in the truck, the box takes the shock instead of the plates and glasses inside. That keeps fragile contents safe, and crockery and glassware keep their shine.

We still wrap each piece before it goes in, so items don't knock against each other. The wrapping looks after the inside and the box looks after the outside, from the moment it's picked up in your old home until it's unpacked in the new one. It's used together with our 4-layer packing, not in place of it. In the truck, these boxes are loaded with care and kept out from under heavy cartons.

A day or two before the packers come, set aside what you'll carry yourself, like expensive jewellery and important papers. Point out heirlooms and anything especially delicate to the packing team.

For any fragile pieces you're carrying yourself, wrap each one in cloth or bubble wrap. Stand plates on their edge instead of stacking them flat. Fill every gap with something soft so nothing can slide, and mark the box clearly as fragile.

At the new house, open fragile cartons on a bed or table rather than the floor. Check the wrapping before you throw it away, because small pieces like saucers and lids can hide inside it.

How it fits with the rest of your move

Broken crockery is one of the most common worries people have before moving. Careful wrapping, 4-layer packing, the Perfect Box and sensible loading of fragile boxes are how we deal with it. What packing can't prevent is a road accident or a natural disaster, and for that, transit insurance is available as an option.
