Inside the Walled City and outside it

If you're in the old city, somewhere off Johari Bazaar, Tripolia or Chandpole, you already know a truck can't just pull up outside. The lanes are narrow, and during market hours they're full of people, handcarts and scooters. We bring a smaller vehicle and extra carrying staff, move everything to a wider road outside the walls and load the main truck there. Early morning, before the shops open, works best.

Vaishali Nagar, Mansarovar, Jagatpura and Malviya Nagar are easier to get into, but the apartment societies there have lift bookings and set shifting hours. Independent houses in C-Scheme, Bani Park and Raja Park tend to be the opposite, with easy parking, big rooms and a lot of heavy furniture. We look at all of this during the free pre-move survey.

How do you pack marble, brass and blue pottery?

Jaipur homes often have things you won't find on a standard packing checklist. Marble tabletops, carved wooden jhoolas, brass lamps, blue pottery and big framed mirrors all need handling one by one.

• Fragile decor is cushioned piece by piece with 4-layer packing
• Carved and polished wood goes under our Fabric Sheet so the edges don't chip or scratch
• Crockery, glassware and small showpieces go into the Perfect Box, which absorbs shocks on the road
• Marble tops travel upright on their edge, which is how stone is least likely to crack

Please mention antiques or paintings at the survey, so the crew brings the right material on packing day.

Heat, dust storms and winter fog

Between April and June the city often crosses 40°C, and dust storms can blow up in the afternoon without much warning. In summer we load early, keep electronics and veneered furniture out of the sun and leave cartons sealed until they're inside the truck. Household goods travel in the closed Trucking Cube, so highway dust stays out.

Monsoon moves, roughly July to September, are fine with sealed cartons and covered furniture, as long as loading waits out a heavy downpour. October to February is the most comfortable time to shift. The one catch is fog on the Delhi highway in December and January, which slows the first few hours of the drive, and we allow for it in the delivery window.

Popular routes, offices and vehicles

Gurgaon (about 270 km) and Delhi (about 290 km) are the busiest routes, and both usually take 1–2 days. Chandigarh is roughly 480 km, Indore 540 km and Ahmedabad 650 km, each 2–3 days. Offices on Tonk Road, in C-Scheme or Malviya Nagar, and units in Sitapura, VKI or Mahindra World City are moved after we check equipment and loading access. Your car can travel on a car carrier, and a bike or scooter fits in our Bike Stand. If you're coming the other way, into a Jagatpura or Ajmer Road society, we confirm the lift slot and entry pass before the truck sets off, so nobody waits at the gate.
