A big share of the people we move in Jammu are on transfer. Government officers, bank staff and defence families arrive from Punjab, Delhi or much further, and a couple of years later they pack up again. Traders and students shift too, often between Jammu, Katra, Udhampur and Kathua.

Short moves to Katra, Udhampur or Kathua are planned much like a local shift. Around Katra, though, we avoid the heaviest pilgrim days, when the roads and parking fill up.
Getting a truck to your door in Jammu city
Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himmat and Bakshi Nagar have decent roads, and trucks get in without trouble. The old city is harder. Around Raghunath Bazaar, Pacca Danga and Kachi Chhawni the lanes are narrow and many of them slope, so we use a smaller vehicle or carry goods to a point where the truck can stand. Janipur, Bohri, Sidhra and Narwal are a mix of houses and newer flats, and parking and lift access get checked at the free survey.
Crossing the Tawi, say from the old city to Gandhi Nagar, is best done outside rush hour, because the bridges back up fast. Also, most families here live in independent houses with a storeroom, a roof and sometimes an extra kitchen. Show us all of it at the survey, or the quote won't match what actually needs packing.
What about moves to Srinagar in winter?
Srinagar is about 240 km by road, and on a normal day your goods reach in 1–2 days. The trouble is that the highway can shut for landslides, heavy rain or snow, especially in winter, and when it does the truck simply waits until it reopens. For valley moves we keep the date flexible, use moisture-resistant 4-layer packing and send everything in the lockable Trucking Cube, which stays shut until it reaches you. If the road is closed, your move manager will tell you straight, rather than promise a date nobody can keep. Pack woollens and a heater in a carton marked to open first.
Heading south is far more predictable. Amritsar (about 210 km), Ludhiana (about 280 km) and Chandigarh (about 350 km) usually take 1–2 days. Delhi is roughly 610 km, which means 2–3 days. Summers on the plains get hot, so in May and June we load early.
Vehicles, offices and industrial units
Officers often bring a car and a scooter to the new station. The car goes on a car carrier and the scooter in our Bike Stand, and the car transport page has the details. Shops and offices on Residency Road or in Gandhi Nagar can shift after working hours, with everything labelled by section. For units at Gangyal, Digiana or Bari Brahmana, we visit first to look at machinery weights and loading access before quoting.

Can you move household goods from Jammu to Srinagar in winter?
Yes, but only with a flexible date. In winter the highway can close for snow or landslides, and the truck has to wait until it opens again. On a normal run the trip takes 1–2 days. We pack in moisture-resistant layers, keep goods in a locked container, and your move manager updates you if there's a closure. Avoid peak winter if you can.
