House Shifting Cost in Bangalore

What a move across Bengaluru costs

Quick answer

Moving house within Bangalore typically costs ₹4,000–₹8,500 for a 1BHK, ₹6,500–₹15,000 for a 2BHK and ₹9,500–₹24,000 for a 3BHK at market rates, and ₹15,000–₹35,000 for a large villa, all before GST. Distance across the city and time lost in traffic matter a lot here, as do apartment association rules. Our surveyor visits your Bengaluru home free and sends a written quote.

Read the table as a guide to the market, not a price list. The ranges are compiled from published price guides and exclude GST at 18% GST. They fit a short move with a lift or a low floor best. In Bengaluru the gap between the low and high figures is mostly about distance and time. HSR Layout to Koramangala is a short hop, while Whitefield to Kengeri can take up most of a working day once the traffic is counted, and a truck and crew that are out longer cost more.

What changes the price in Bangalore

Distance across the city

Bengaluru has spread so far that a local move can mean Electronic City to Yelahanka or Whitefield to Nagarbhavi. Published local rates lean towards shorter moves, so expect a quote above the table for runs like these. The truck, driver and crew are tied up for longer, and fuel goes up with the distance.

Peak hours and big junctions

Large trucks aren't allowed on many city roads at peak times, and junctions at Hebbal, KR Puram and Bommanahalli can hold a truck for a long while even outside those hours. A move that loads early and crosses the city mid-morning usually needs fewer paid crew hours than one that starts after lunch.

Association fees and deposits

Many apartment associations in Bellandur, Sarjapur Road and Thanisandra charge a move-in or move-out fee, and some hold a refundable deposit against damage to lifts and lobbies. You pay these to the association, so they sit outside any mover's quote. Get the amount in writing early, because a surprise at the gate can hold the truck.

Rented floors in older houses

In Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram and RT Nagar, a lot of tenants live on the first or second floor of an owner's house, reached by a narrow staircase that is sometimes outside the building. There's no lift, the turns are tight, and a wardrobe or sofa may have to come apart. That adds people and time even when the home is small.

Villas and larger homes

A 4BHK villa in a Whitefield or Sarjapur Road community often holds more than any flat, plus garden pots, gym equipment and outdoor furniture. Some communities also limit when a large truck may come in. That's why the villa range is so much wider than the others, and why two trucks are sometimes cheaper than one long day.

Rain and Ashada

September and October are usually the wettest months here, and low stretches around Bellandur and Mahadevapura have flooded badly in heavy spells. A washed-out afternoon can push unloading into another day. On the other hand, many families avoid moving into a new home during Ashada, around June and July, so crews tend to be easier to book then.

What usually costs extra

  • Association move charges. Paid by you to the apartment association, not to the mover, so budget for them on top of the quote.
  • Long carry from parking. When the truck has to park far from your tower or villa, some movers add a charge for the longer walk.
  • Appliance disconnection. Unfixing a washing machine, water purifier, geyser or chimney is often done by a technician and billed separately.
  • Plants and balcony gardens. Pots need their own crates and careful loading, and a big collection can take up real space in the truck.
  • Storage. Useful when one lease ends before the next begins. A 2BHK load typically costs ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month per month at market rates.
  • Insurance. Transit cover is optional and commonly priced at 2–3% of the declared value, depending on the value you declare.
  • GST. Charged on the final bill at 18% GST. Get a proper tax invoice if your company pays for the relocation.

Short hop or cross-city move?

Two 2BHK moves show the difference. One family is going from BTM Layout to JP Nagar, a short drive on local roads. The truck loads in the morning, and the crew unloads and sets up the beds well before evening. The other is leaving Hennur for a new flat on Kanakapura Road. That truck has to cross the whole city, the lift at the new tower is booked for a fixed slot, and if traffic eats the gap between the two, the crew stands and waits.

The first move is likely to sit in the lower half of the ₹6,500–₹15,000 market range. The second can reach the top of it, or go past, with the same furniture. When you compare quotes, check whether each mover has actually priced your two addresses or only your BHK count.

Timing the lease and the association calendar

Many Bengaluru rentals run from the start of the month, so the last week of any month is when movers are busiest. If your lease allows a mid-month exit, you'll usually have more dates to choose from and less pressure on price. Check the association calendar too. Some complexes don't allow moves on Sundays or festival days, and a Saturday slot in a big Whitefield complex can be taken well in advance.

If the two leases don't line up, compare a couple of weeks of storage with paying rent on both homes. For everything else about moving here, see our Bangalore page.

Two things to sort out before the survey

First, decide what isn't coming. Bengaluru flats collect old study tables, spare mattresses, broken cycles and boxes on the balcony, and every piece you sell or give away before the survey comes off the load. Sometimes that's enough to drop to a smaller truck. Second, get your association's move-out and move-in rules on paper, including the allowed hours and any fee. With both in hand, the surveyor can price the right crew and vehicle, and the written quote won't need changing a week later.

House shifting cost in Bangalore: frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.

How much does a 3BHK house shift within Bangalore cost?

Usually around ₹9,500–₹24,000 at market rates, plus GST at 18% GST. Short moves in the same part of town with good lift access land near the bottom. A cross-city run, a rented upper floor with no lift, or lots of plants and appliances pushes it towards the top or past it. Once the surveyor has seen both addresses, we confirm your figure in a written quote.

Is the association's move-in fee part of the mover's price?

No, it's separate. Associations collect move-in or move-out charges and any refundable deposit directly from residents, and the amount varies a lot between complexes. Ask both associations for their charges and rules in writing a week or two ahead, and count them in your moving budget next to the mover's quote.

Do I pay more if the truck gets stuck in Bangalore traffic?

Usually not, because local quotes are normally for the whole job rather than by the hour. Where it can cost you is waiting time, if the truck reaches the new society outside its allowed hours and the crew has to stand by. An early start and the right lift slot at both ends avoid most of that.

Is shifting cheaper during Ashada?

It can be easier to book, and sometimes easier to negotiate. Many families in Karnataka avoid moving into a new home during Ashada, so demand for crews tends to drop for those weeks. The trade-off is monsoon rain in the same period. If the custom doesn't matter to you, ask movers to quote for those dates too.

Does moving a villa cost much more than a 3BHK flat?

Yes, and the range is wider too. At market rates a villa move runs about ₹15,000–₹35,000, against ₹9,500–₹24,000 for a 3BHK flat. Villas tend to have more furniture, garden and gym pieces, and sometimes stairs inside the house. A bigger truck, or two, and a larger crew are common for these jobs.
