House Shifting Cost in Pune
Local move prices across Pune and PCMC
Shifting within Pune usually costs ₹4,000–₹8,500 for a 1BHK, ₹7,000–₹13,500 for a 2BHK and ₹10,000–₹21,000 for a 3BHK at market rates, excluding GST. Moves between Pimpri-Chinchwad and the eastern side of Pune, homes in the old peths and delayed possessions that need storage all cost more. The ranges in the table are typical market figures from published price guides, not Skynet's rate card, and GST at 18% GST comes on top. They suit a move within one side of the city, such as Baner to Aundh or Kharadi to Viman Nagar. Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad together cover a big area now, and a Nigdi to Undri shift is priced very differently from a move down the road. Older bungalows in Koregaon Park or Aundh usually fall in the villa band of ₹15,500–₹25,000. Access at each end, and whether the flat you're moving into is actually ready, account for most of the rest.
What changes the price in Pune
PCMC to the east side
Chikhali or Moshi to Hadapsar, or Ravet to Wagholi, crosses almost the whole urban area. Whichever way the truck goes, round the edge on the highway bypass or through the middle of the city, the crew spends a long stretch of the day on the road. Expect moves like these to price above the table.
Office-hour traffic at both ends
The roads into Hinjewadi and the stretch of Nagar Road towards Kharadi and Wagholi jam badly around office hours. A move into a Hinjewadi society that isn't timed around the morning rush can leave the truck standing, and when a society slot is tight, a missed window may mean waiting for the next one. That waiting can end up as a charge.
Wadas and peth buildings
In Sadashiv Peth, Shaniwar Peth and Kasba Peth, old wadas and walk-ups often mean a staircase with tight turns and a lane no truck can use. The quote then needs a small tempo to ferry goods to a wider road, extra people for the stairs and sometimes a carpenter, which adds up fast even for a small home.
Society permissions and deposits
Gated societies in Balewadi, Pimple Saudagar and Magarpatta often fix moving hours, want a permission letter and, in some cases, take a refundable deposit or a shifting fee that you pay the society directly. Where the service lift is small or shared, loading a high-floor 3BHK takes longer, and the crew size in the quote grows with it.
Possession delays in new projects
Buyers waiting on flats in Ravet, Punawale, Tathawade or Wagholi often end up moving twice, once into storage or a rental and again when the keys arrive. The second leg needs a truck and crew all over again. Storing a 2BHK load at market rates runs ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month a month, so compare that with a short rental before deciding.
Monsoon and Ganeshotsav
June to September brings steady rain, and low areas along Sinhagad Road near the river have flooded in heavy spells. Ganeshotsav matters more for the old city. For around ten days Laxmi Road and the peths fill with pandals and crowds, and many roads close on immersion day, so a peth move then means more shuttling and a longer day.
Add-on price guide
Within the city| Extra | Typical market range |
|---|---|
| Transit insurance | 2–3% of declared value |
| Storage, 2 BHK load, per month | ₹3,000–₹4,000 |
| Stairs with no lift, per floor | ₹300–₹700 |
| Unpacking and arranging at the new home | ₹1,000–₹5,500 |
| Split AC uninstall and reinstall, per unit | ₹2,200–₹3,000 |
| GST on the bill | 18% (5% if only transport is billed) |
What usually costs extra
- Tempo shuttle in the peths. A small vehicle that carries goods from a narrow lane out to the main truck, charged as an extra trip.
- Second two-wheeler. If nobody can ride the spare scooter across, it can go in the truck on our Bike Stand for an added charge.
- Carpentry for built-ins. Taking apart and refixing wardrobes, storage beds and loft units, often billed by the piece.
- Storage for delayed possession. Monthly storage for a 2BHK load typically runs ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month, and handling in and out may be listed separately.
- Transit insurance. Optional cover, usually 2–3% of the declared value. Worth considering when goods are handled twice on a two-stage move.
- GST. Added on top at 18% GST, and it should appear as its own line on a tax invoice.
What a two-stage move costs
If your new flat in Wagholi or Punawale isn't ready, here's how the money usually works. The first leg covers packing, loading and taking your goods into storage. Then there's a monthly storage charge, typically ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month for a 2BHK load at market rates. The second leg is loading out of storage and delivering to the new flat. That needs a truck and crew again, but very little fresh packing if the cartons were sealed properly the first time.
Ask for all three parts in one written quote. It's easier to weigh against the cost of a short rental, and it stops another mover from re-quoting from scratch months later. Keep a list of what's in each carton, so nobody has to open boxes in the godown to find the one thing you need.
Pune dates that change the price
- The last days of the month. Leases around Hinjewadi, Wakad and Kharadi mostly turn over at the start of a month, so crews are busiest just before.
- Ganeshotsav. Old city moves get slower and dearer, and immersion day is best avoided altogether.
- Gudi Padwa and Dussehra. Popular days to move into a new home, so book well ahead.
- June to September. Rain means extra wrapping and a date that may need to slip.
A mid-month weekday outside these windows is usually the easiest to book. Our Pune page covers how we plan the moving day itself.
Moving within a township
Big townships like Magarpatta City, Amanora Park Town and Blue Ridge in Hinjewadi see plenty of moves from one tower to another. The truck ride takes a few minutes, so people expect a tiny bill. But most of a local price is labour, and that barely shrinks. The crew still packs a full home, works around two lift slots, and loads and unloads everything. Expect a quote towards the lower end of the table, not a fraction of it. If the society allows goods to be wheeled across on trolleys, ask the mover to price that too, since it can save the vehicle.

House shifting cost in Pune: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.
What does a 2BHK shift within Pune usually cost?
Most local 2BHK moves in Pune land around ₹7,000–₹13,500 at market rates, before GST at 18% GST. A short move with a lift at both ends is at the low end. A long PCMC to Hadapsar run, a peth building with no truck access, or a high floor with a slow shared lift moves it up. A free survey at your society gets you our figure in writing.
Is Pimpri-Chinchwad to Pune city priced as a local move?
Yes, it's still a local move, but not a cheap one when the two ends are far apart. Nigdi to Kondhwa or Moshi to Hadapsar keeps the truck and crew out much longer than a move within Wakad. Published local rates lean towards short distances, so a cross-city shift will usually be quoted above the table.
Is there a charge for keeping goods in storage until possession?
Yes, storage is billed monthly. For a 2BHK load, market rates are typically ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month a month. Some providers also charge for handling when goods go in and come out, and you'll need a truck for each leg. Ask for the whole two-stage plan in one written quote so you can compare it with a short-term rental.
Does moving out of a peth wada cost more?
Often, yes. Narrow lanes mean a small tempo has to shuttle goods to a truck on a wider road, and steep staircases need more people and sometimes a carpenter. A small home in Sadashiv Peth can cost as much to move as a bigger flat in a Baner society with a lift and parking at the tower.
Should I avoid shifting during Ganeshotsav?
If you live in the old city, yes, where you can. Pandals and crowds make parking and shuttling hard for around ten days, and roads close on immersion day. In newer areas like Wakad or Kharadi the effect is smaller, though evening traffic is still heavier. Book early if the festival dates can't be avoided.
