Packers and Movers Charges from Mumbai to Pune

A short route where labour sets the price

Quick answer

Typical market rates for Mumbai to Pune run from ₹8,500–₹15,500 for a 1BHK to ₹18,500–₹29,000 for a 3BHK, with most 2BHK moves at ₹14,000–₹24,000. A villa or 4BHK comes to around ₹23,000–₹38,000. These are market estimates before GST, not Skynet's rate card. Because the drive is short, packing and labour decide more of the price than the distance.

The ranges below are typical market rates for a household move of about 150 km, compiled from published price guides and shown before 18% GST. They aren't a quote. On long routes freight is the biggest line, but here the truck is on the road for only a few hours, so the spread comes from the work at either end. The size of the crew, stairs or a slow lift, the quality of packing, and whether the move fits in one day or needs the truck overnight separate the low figures from the high ones.

What a typical quote includes

  • Packing materialsCartons, bubble wrap, stretch film and tape, plus rain covers for furniture during the monsoon months.
  • Packing and loading crewOur own trained staff pack every room of your Mumbai home and load the truck.
  • Truck and driverA closed truck for the trip over the ghat, with fuel and FASTag tolls normally covered.
  • Unloading and placingGoods carried into your Pune flat and furniture set down in the rooms you point to.
  • Bed and wardrobe assemblyStandard beds and modular wardrobes opened in Mumbai and fixed back together in Pune.
  • Slot planningOne move manager books the loading and unloading times around both societies' rules.

What usually costs extra

  • Car on a carrierUsually ₹6,500–₹12,000 for this distance, though many people skip it by driving down themselves.
  • Bike or scooterAround ₹4,000–₹6,500 on the Bike Stand, often in the same truck as your household goods.
  • Overnight truck holdIf the Pune society won't take goods the same evening, keeping the loaded truck overnight costs more.
  • StorageAbout ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month for a 2BHK load, useful when your Pune lease starts days after the Mumbai one ends.
  • InsuranceOptional transit cover, typically 2–3% of the declared value, still worth it for electronics even on a short drive.
  • GSTMost movers add 18% GST to the bill, so compare quotes after it's included.
  • Long carry or no liftAn old Mumbai walk-up or a truck parked far from the tower adds crew time at that end.

What moves the price on this route

Labour more than distance

On a 150 km route the truck spends only a few hours on the road, so diesel and tolls are a small part of the bill. What costs money is the crew. How many people come, how long packing takes and how many floors they carry things up or down set most of the price.

One day or two

If both societies allow it, a small flat can be packed, moved and unloaded in a single day, and you pay for one day of truck and crew. When the timings don't line up, the truck is held overnight or the crew comes back next morning, and the quote goes up accordingly.

Dedicated versus shared

On long routes, sharing a truck saves real money. Over 150 km the gap between shared and dedicated is narrower, so for a whole flat it's often worth paying a little more for your own truck and finishing sooner. Sharing still makes sense when you're only sending a handful of items.

Building access at both ends

A Powai tower with a service lift and parking at the gate is quick to load. A Dadar walk-up, or a truck that has to stop on the main road, means much more carrying. In Pune, some newer projects on the city's edge have unfinished approach roads, where a smaller vehicle does the last stretch.

Monsoon and peak dates

Rain on the ghat between June and September means more waterproof packing and a slower drive, which can nudge the price up. Demand also climbs from April to June and around month-end, when leases turn over, so trucks and crews on this short, popular route get booked early.

How to pay less without cutting corners

Most of the savings on this route come from cutting labour and avoiding a second day.

  • Drive your own car to Pune instead of paying for a carrier.
  • Pack clothes, books and toys yourself a few days before, and leave the kitchen and fragile things to the crew.
  • Choose dates when both societies allow moving on the same day, so the truck isn't held overnight.
  • Go on a weekday. Weekend traffic on the ghat slows the truck and stretches the crew's hours.
  • Sell heavy furniture that won't suit the new flat, since fewer big pieces can mean a smaller truck.

Mumbai to Pune charges: frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.

Why isn't Mumbai to Pune much cheaper than a long-distance move?

Because the drive is only part of the cost. A 2BHK needs the same packing, the same crew and the same loading and unloading whether it travels 150 km or across the country. Distance mostly changes freight, and on this route freight is small. So prices here are lower than long-haul moves, just not dramatically lower.

Is it cheaper to hire a tempo myself from Mumbai to Pune?

For a few items, sometimes. For a full home, the saving usually disappears once you pay separately for labour and materials and count your own time, and nobody is responsible if something breaks. A mover's quote bundles those, and optional insurance at 2–3% of the declared value covers transit damage in a way a hired tempo won't.

How much does it cost to send a bike from Mumbai to Pune?

Typically ₹4,000–₹6,500 at market rates for this distance. If household goods are going anyway, the bike can often travel in the same truck on our Bike Stand, which holds both tyres. Plenty of people ride it down instead, which costs only fuel, but two-wheelers can't use the expressway, and a monsoon ride over the ghat isn't much fun.

Do movers charge extra for monsoon moves between Mumbai and Pune?

Some quotes go up a little, mainly for extra waterproof material and a longer day on the ghat. It's rarely a separate rain charge. Ask the surveyor what monsoon packing is included and compare quotes on that basis, because a cheap quote without proper covers can cost you a soaked mattress.

What does it cost to store goods between a Mumbai and Pune move?

Market rates for storing a 2BHK load are about ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month. It helps when your Mumbai notice period ends before the Pune flat is ready. Goods are packed once, stored and then delivered, so you don't pay for packing twice. Ask for storage and the final delivery to be quoted together so nothing is missed.
