Packers and Movers Charges from Mumbai to Ahmedabad
Where the money goes on a short intercity move
Market rates from Mumbai to Ahmedabad run from ₹14,000–₹24,000 for a 1 BHK to ₹36,000–₹55,000 for a 3 BHK, with most 2 BHK quotes landing in the ₹23,000–₹38,000 band. Those figures leave out GST and vehicle transport, and they're compiled from published price guides rather than our rate card. On a route this short, packing and building access decide more of the bill than the distance does.

Read the ranges below as market estimates gathered from published price guides, not as Skynet's rate card, and remember that 18% GST comes on top. At about 500 km, fuel and the driver's time are a smaller slice of the bill than on a cross-country move, so what pushes a quote to the top of its range is usually the Mumbai end. A lift building with parking at the gate sits near the low figure. A walk-up needing a shuttle vehicle to the main road sits near the high one, and choosing a dedicated truck over a shared one moves you up as well.
What a typical quote includes
- Packing materialCartons, bubble wrap, stretch film and a waterproof outer layer, with 4-layer packing on glass and electronics.
- Dismantling and reassemblyBeds, wardrobes and dining tables taken apart in Mumbai and put back together in the Ahmedabad flat.
- Loading and unloadingOur own crew carries everything down in Mumbai and places it room by room at the new address.
- Truck and driverTruck hire, diesel and the driver for about 500 km on NH48 and the expressways.
- Signed inventoryA numbered list of every carton, signed at loading and ticked off with you at delivery.
- One move managerA single person who handles timings with both societies and takes your calls until unloading is done.
What usually costs extra
- Car on a carrierTypically ₹8,500–₹15,000 at this distance, though plenty of people skip it and drive the six hours themselves.
- Bike or scooterUsually ₹5,000–₹9,000, carried on a Bike Stand that holds both tyres in place.
- Transit insuranceOptional cover, generally priced at 2–3% of the declared value, and most useful for electronics and good furniture.
- GSTMoving bills normally add 18% GST on top of the quoted amount.
- StorageAround ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month for a 2 BHK load if the Ahmedabad flat isn't ready on time.
- Shuttle vehicleA smaller truck and extra hands when the long-haul vehicle can't reach your Mumbai gate.
- Tolls, if listed separatelySome movers fold NH48, NE4 and NE1 tolls into the price, while others add them at the end.

What moves the price on this route
Access at your Mumbai building
This is the one people underestimate. A fourth-floor walk-up in Matunga, or a compound the long-haul truck can't enter, needs more hands and a shuttle vehicle, and that can add more to the bill than an extra hundred kilometres would. A Thane tower with a service lift and room for the truck to stand sits at the other end of the scale.
Shared load or a truck of your own
Because Mumbai to Gujarat is such a busy freight lane, part-load space is easy to find and shared prices here stay competitive. For a 1 BHK that can mean a clearly lower quote. For a 3 BHK the saving shrinks, since your goods fill most of a truck anyway, and the step up to a dedicated vehicle is smaller than it looks.
Packing weighs more than distance
On a 500 km run the truck is only part of the price. Packing material and labour make up a bigger share, so a home full of crockery, glass shelves, artwork and a large TV costs more to move than one with more furniture but fewer fragile things. Clearing out before the survey shrinks both the material and the truck.
Festival season in two states
Demand for trucks in Gujarat climbs in the weeks around Navratri and Diwali, and Mumbai has its own crunch during Ganeshotsav. Month-end is busy on both sides as leases turn over. Quotes in these periods are firmer and good dates get scarce, so booking two or three weeks early helps more than haggling does.
Loading in the monsoon
From June to September, a Mumbai loading needs extra waterproof sheeting on cartons, mattresses and sofas, and a cloudburst can push the loading day back. The material itself costs little, but a lost day with a crew and truck already booked isn't cheap, so leave a little room in your dates if you're moving in the wet months.
How to pay less without cutting corners
A few honest ways to bring the bill down on this route.
- Drive the car to Ahmedabad yourself. It's about six hours, and it takes the carrier charge off the quote.
- Sell or give away bulky furniture before the survey, since the truck size follows the volume.
- With a 1 BHK and flexible dates, ask for a shared truck.
- Pick a mid-month weekday outside Navratri, Diwali and Ganpati weeks.
- Sort out both societies' permissions early, so the crew and truck aren't kept waiting at either end.

Mumbai to Ahmedabad charges: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.
Why do quotes from Mumbai to Ahmedabad differ so much?
Mostly because movers price the Mumbai end differently. One quote assumes the truck parks at your gate, another includes a shuttle vehicle and extra crew for a walk-up. Shared or dedicated trucks, how much packing material is counted, and whether tolls and GST are shown make up the rest. Compare the line items, not just the totals.
Is GST extra on Mumbai to Ahmedabad moving charges?
Yes, usually. The ranges on this page are before tax, and moving bills normally carry 18% GST. Check that every quote you're comparing shows tax the same way, since one that looks cheaper may simply leave it off. Our written quote shows GST as its own line, next to any add-ons you've asked for.
Is it cheaper to drive my car to Ahmedabad than ship it?
Usually, yes. A car carrier typically costs ₹8,500–₹15,000 at this distance, while driving about 500 km yourself means fuel, FASTag tolls and a long day at the wheel. If nobody wants to drive, or you're going by train with small children, the carrier is still worth it, and the car arrives without the extra kilometres.
Does it cost less to move from Thane or Borivali than from South Mumbai?
Often a little, yes. From Thane or the northern suburbs the truck is quickly on the highway to Gujarat, and newer towers there usually have lifts and space to park. South Mumbai and older central areas more often need a shuttle vehicle, a bigger crew and loading squeezed into tight hours, and that labour shows up in the quote.
How can I tell if a Mumbai to Ahmedabad quote is complete?
Look for separate lines for packing material, labour, the truck, tolls and GST, plus any add-ons like car transport, insurance or storage. It should also say whether the truck is shared or dedicated and give a delivery window. If a figure looks low, ask what isn't in it, because that's usually where the gap is.
