Packers and Movers Charges from Mumbai to Goa

What moving to Goa really costs

Quick answer

At market rates, a Mumbai to Goa move runs from about ₹14,500–₹24,000 (1 BHK) to ₹30,000–₹49,000 (3 BHK), and a 2 BHK usually lands in the ₹19,500–₹38,000 band. GST and vehicle transport are extra. These ranges come from published price guides, not Skynet's rate card, and on this route the lane outside your Goan house can matter as much as the distance.

These ranges are market estimates drawn from published price guides for Mumbai to Goa, not our own rate card, and they're shown before 18% GST. The route is only about 540 km, so freight doesn't swing much between quotes. The last stretch in Goa does. A flat in Panaji or Porvorim with a lift and parking sits near the bottom of a range, while an old village house that needs a smaller vehicle or hand-carrying from the main road sits near the top. Monsoon wrapping and the truck type account for most of the rest.

What a typical quote includes

  • Packing for coastal dampCartons, bubble wrap and a moisture-resistant outer wrap, with 4-layer packing on crockery and electronics.
  • Furniture protectionBeds and wardrobes dismantled, then covered in reusable Fabric Sheets for the ghat roads.
  • Loading crew in MumbaiOur own trained staff carry goods down, load the truck and secure everything for NH66.
  • Truck to GoaTruck hire, diesel and the driver for about 540 km, with goods unloaded at your address.
  • Unloading and setting upGoods carried in, beds and tables reassembled and placed where you want them.
  • Inventory and one contactA signed carton list, plus a single move manager from the survey to the last box.

What usually costs extra

  • Scooter or bikeAround ₹5,000–₹9,000, carried upright on a Bike Stand, and handy since so much of Goa runs on two wheels.
  • Car carrierTypically ₹8,500–₹15,000 at this distance, though many families simply drive the seven hours.
  • Last-mile shuttleA smaller vehicle or extra hands when the truck can't get down a Goan village lane.
  • Transit insuranceOptional, usually 2–3% of the declared value, and worth it for heirloom furniture going over the Konkan ghats.
  • StorageAround ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month for a 2 BHK load if a Goa rental or renovation isn't finished.
  • GSTAdded on top at 18% GST, and not included in the table's ranges.
  • Extra waterproofingHeavier plastic sheeting for monsoon moves, for loading in Mumbai and unloading in Goa.

What moves the price on this route

The lane outside your Goa home

This is often the biggest variable. A Panaji or Margao apartment with a lift is straightforward. A village house where a big truck can't turn in needs a smaller vehicle to shuttle goods, or a crew carrying everything from the main road, and both add labour and hours to the quote.

Monsoon on the Konkan

Between June and September, loads need heavier waterproofing at both ends, and rain on NH66 can turn a one-day drive into two. Some movers charge more for monsoon moves to cover the extra material and the risk of a held-up truck. Moving between October and May is usually simpler and a little cheaper.

Ganpati and holiday weeks

Around Ganesh Chaturthi, trucks may be barred from NH66 for several days, so the dates either side fill quickly and quotes firm up. Goa has its own peak from mid-December to New Year, and long weekends bring a rush of second-home owners. Booking outside these windows gives you more trucks to choose from.

Shared or dedicated, and truck size

Fewer shared loads run to Goa than to bigger cities, so shared is cheaper but can mean a longer wait. With a dedicated truck, size matters. A mid-size vehicle that reaches your gate may cost a little more than a large one, but it can save the price of a shuttle vehicle and extra crew at the Goa end.

Old wooden furniture

People moving to Goa often bring solid wood, glass-fronted cabinets and family pieces that suit an old house. These take more wrapping, more hands and more careful loading than flat-pack furniture, and that shows up in packing and labour. Point them out at the survey rather than on the day, so the quote is right.

How to pay less without cutting corners

Ways to keep a Mumbai to Goa move affordable.

  • Drive your car down instead of paying for a carrier.
  • Ship less, since a bigger Goan house often needs different pieces anyway.
  • Move between October and May, and avoid Ganpati week and the Christmas rush.
  • Check the lane to your new house before booking, so the right size of truck comes and no shuttle is needed.
  • Take a shared truck only if your load is small and you can wait.

Mumbai to Goa charges: frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.

Does a village house in Goa cost more to move into?

Often, yes. If a big truck can't get down the lane, goods are either moved into a smaller vehicle or carried by hand from the main road, and both take more people and time. Share photos of the lane and gate, plus a map pin, at the survey, so the cost is in the quote from the start.

How much does it cost to take my scooter to Goa?

Market rates for a bike or scooter at this distance are around ₹5,000–₹9,000. It travels on a Bike Stand that holds both tyres, so it stays upright on the ghats. Run the tank low, remove loose accessories and keep RC and insurance copies ready. In Goa a scooter is close to essential, so it's usually worth the charge.

Can my things be stored while the Goa house is renovated?

Yes. Storage for a 2 BHK load typically costs around ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month at market rates. It's often simpler to pack and store the goods, then deliver once the work is done, than to move into a half-finished house. Ask for packing suited to storage, and fix the delivery once your contractor gives a firm date.

Is it cheaper to move to Goa in one trip or two?

One trip is almost always cheaper. Two separate loads mean two trucks, two rounds of labour and two sets of freight over the same 540 km. Splitting only makes sense if you're keeping the Mumbai flat for a while, or the Goa house can't take everything yet, and then storage may be the cheaper middle path.

What should I ask before accepting a Mumbai to Goa quote?

Ask whether the truck can reach your Goan gate, and what happens if it can't. Check that monsoon wrapping, labour at both ends and GST are shown, and that scooter transport or storage have their own lines. Also ask how a Ganpati-week road closure would change the date or the price.
