Start with a list, not a truck
Vapi GIDC has units of every size, from a small engineering shed with two lathes to large process plants, and the planning scales with them. But the first meeting is always the same. Moving goods between premises by road, including your own machinery and stock, normally needs proper movement documents such as a delivery challan and, depending on value, an e-way bill. The new address should also be added to your GST registration before goods arrive there.
Industrial units hold permissions tied to their location as well. Factory licences, fire safety approvals and environmental consents are the usual ones, and in an estate with as many chemical and pharma units as Vapi, the consents get close attention. Make sure the new premises are covered before production restarts there, not after.
For stock, count and seal it by batch before loading, keep batch numbers on the carton labels and send a copy of the list with each truck, so your stores team can check it in at the other end. If the new unit isn't ready, finished goods and non-hazardous material can wait in warehousing.
What happens at the Daman and Silvassa checks?
Daman and Silvassa are in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and plenty of Vapi businesses have units or warehouses on both sides. Trucks going in and out pass check posts, and vehicles coming back into Gujarat are often stopped because Gujarat has prohibition. The checks are routine, but a truck without clear papers can lose hours.
For industrial goods, the driver should carry the invoice or delivery challan, the e-way bill where one applies, the packing list and the addresses of both units. The UT counts as a separate state for GST, so a move from Vapi GIDC to Silvassa or Daman is an inter-state movement and the paperwork differs from a shift inside Vapi.
