House Shifting Cost in Delhi
Builder floors, truck hours and the real bill
At typical market rates, a local move inside Delhi costs about ₹4,000–₹8,500 for a 1BHK, ₹7,500–₹14,000 for a 2BHK and ₹12,000–₹22,000 for a 3BHK, with GST extra. Builder floors without a lift, daytime limits on goods vehicles and long runs across the Yamuna push quotes up. These ranges are market estimates put together from published price guides, not Skynet's own rates, and they exclude GST at 18% GST. They're closest to reality for a short move between neighbouring colonies. In Delhi, where you land inside a range mostly comes down to stairs and timing. A second-floor DDA flat in Mayur Vihar with the truck at the door is a quick job. A top-floor builder floor in Malviya Nagar with a narrow stair, cars parked down both sides of the lane and a truck that can only run in permitted hours is a much longer one.
What changes the price in Delhi
Stairs in builder floors and DDA blocks
Many builder floors in Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji and Punjabi Bagh have no lift, or one too small for a sofa or a double bed. Older DDA walk-ups in Rohini, Pitampura and Mayur Vihar usually have none. Every floor of carrying adds labour, and a king-size bed or sheesham wardrobe that has to be taken apart adds carpenter time too.
When goods vehicles can run
Medium and heavy goods vehicles are kept off many Delhi roads for a large part of the day. So a mover either plans one big truck for the permitted hours, which can mean a late crew or a truck parked overnight, or splits the load across smaller vehicles that can run in daytime. Each plan is priced differently.
Crossing the Yamuna and the Ring Roads
Laxmi Nagar to Janakpuri or Dwarka to Preet Vihar means crossing the river and sitting in traffic on the Ring Road or near ITO. The same load costs more than a hop from Saket to Hauz Khas, simply because the truck and crew are out longer. Rohini to Chhatarpur is about as long as a local Delhi move gets.
RWA gates and colony parking
Colony lanes in Greater Kailash, Defence Colony and Green Park are lined with parked cars, and many RWAs close some gates at night. If the truck can't get near the house, the crew carries everything further and the job runs longer. A move planned for late hours needs the RWA's go-ahead for the gate well before the day.
GRAP curbs in winter
When the air turns bad and GRAP stages tighten, some older diesel goods vehicles can be taken off the road at short notice. A mover may then need a newer or smaller vehicle, which can change the price or the date. If you're moving between November and January, ask how your quote deals with that before you sign.
Heat, rain and the wedding season
In May and June crews start early and slow down in the afternoon heat, so a big house can spill into a second day. A cloudburst in July or August floods underpasses like Minto Bridge and holds trucks up. From November to February the wedding season keeps tempos, trucks and labour busy across the city, and good dates go quickly.

What usually costs extra
- Late-hours loading. If the vehicle plan needs loading or driving in the permitted late hours, crew overtime can appear as its own line.
- Dismantling and carpentry. Taking apart beds, wardrobes and modular units for narrow builder-floor stairs, then fixing them back at the new home.
- Coolers, ACs and inverters. Desert coolers are bulky, ACs need a technician, and inverter batteries travel upright, so each is often priced separately.
- Charges on NCR moves. A goods vehicle coming into Delhi from Noida, Ghaziabad or Gurugram may pay entry charges and toll, billed at actual.
- Storage. Handy when a lease ends before the new flat is ready. Market rates for a 2BHK load run about ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month monthly.
- Transit insurance. Optional, and usually priced at 2–3% of the declared value. Ask what's covered on a short local move before you add it.
- GST. Charged at 18% GST on the bill. Keep the tax invoice if your employer reimburses the move.
One truck at night or two in the day?
This is the choice that most often changes a Delhi quote. A 3BHK usually fits in one large truck, but that truck may only be allowed on the road in the permitted hours. Loading late means paying the crew for a longer day, and if unloading can't happen until the next morning, the truck sits parked overnight with your goods inside.
Two smaller vehicles can often run in daytime instead. You pay for the second vehicle and driver, but the crew keeps normal hours and unloads the same day. For a 1BHK or a light 2BHK, a single small vehicle is often the cheapest plan of all. We work out which one suits your load and both addresses at the survey, and the vehicle plan is written into the quote.
Moves that cross into the NCR
Plenty of Delhi moves don't stay inside Delhi. Dwarka to Gurugram, Mayur Vihar to Noida or Dilshad Garden to Ghaziabad are short by distance but cross a state border, so a goods vehicle may pay entry charges on the Delhi side and toll on the way. Most movers still price these as local jobs, with those costs added as separate lines. Our branch on Mata Mandir Road in Gurugram is close for moves on that side, and you can read more on our Noida page.
Small things that lower a Delhi quote
- Pick a date away from month-end and the busiest wedding weeks.
- Sell or give away the old cooler, the spare bed and the almirah nobody opens. Fewer bulky pieces can mean a smaller vehicle.
- Get written permission for the truck from the RWA at both colonies, so the crew isn't stuck at a gate.
- Take down curtains and empty the wardrobes yourself before packing day.
A quote that lists stairs, carpentry and the vehicle plan separately is easier to compare than a single total. More on local moves is on our Delhi page.

House shifting cost in Delhi: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions customers ask us most.
What does a 2BHK house shift within Delhi cost?
At typical market rates, around ₹7,500–₹14,000 plus GST at 18% GST. That assumes a short move with a lift or a low floor. A builder floor without a lift, carpentry for large furniture or a late-hours truck plan adds to it. We confirm the actual figure in writing after surveying your home and the lane outside.
Why does a builder floor cost more to move than a society flat?
Because of the stairs. Most builder floors have no lift, or a small one that won't take big furniture, so the crew carries everything down by hand and often dismantles beds and wardrobes first. That means more people for more hours. A society flat with a service lift needs a smaller crew for the same load.
Does a late-night move cost more in Delhi?
It can. If the plan depends on the permitted hours for goods vehicles, the crew works a longer day, and some quotes show that as overtime or a waiting charge. Splitting the load into smaller daytime vehicles sometimes works out cheaper. Ask for both options at the survey and compare them in writing.
Is Delhi to Noida or Gurugram charged as a local shift?
Most movers treat it as local. The distance is short, but the truck crosses a state border, so entry charges for goods vehicles and any tolls are added at actual where they apply. Traffic at the border crossings can also lengthen the day. Check that your quote lists these separately rather than folding them into one number.
Which months are easier on the budget for a Delhi move?
February and March are usually the calmest. May and June bring heat that slows crews, July and August bring flooded underpasses, and October to January adds festival demand, the wedding rush and GRAP curbs. Mid-month weekdays help in any season. Some families avoid moving during Pitru Paksha, so trucks can be easier to find then.
